Ranchi, Aug 8 (ANI): Former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly has expressed faith in the national squad currently struggling in the test series in England.
During an interaction on the sidelines of an event in Ranchi, Ganguly hoped the team would make a comeback despite several key players sustaining injuries.
"Of course I expect India to bounce back, there are still two more test matches to go and if India from here can make it 2-2, all that will be great for the Indian team and the series. India has got Zaheer Khan (ace bowler), he is out of the series and could be out for long, he would be out for good seven to eight months because he needs surgery in his ankle as well," he said
"So that is a blow for India, but at the same time it is an opportunity for all the other players to stand up, replace Zaheer Khan and win test matches. So this will be a challenge for India, but I don't see a reason why they can't make 2-2 all," he added.
He also hailed skipper Dhoni and asserted that players should get rest from the international cricket.
" Dhoni is like a horse as he does not get tired easily. After a rest of few days they will be fine. They are getting rest for seven days, which (will) refresh them. There is no doubt that there is a lot of cricket, India does play a lot of cricket, but you have got to deal with it. I have always said that I am completely in favour of players getting breaks, rests, but the problem is the foreign tour programmes of the ICC will not change," he said.
India is struggling in England and the world's top-ranked test side trail 2-0 with two tests left in the four-match series.(ANI)
