FA treats Man U 'differently', says Ferguson

London , Sun, 24 Jul 2011 ANI

London, July 24(ANI): Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has accused the Football Association (FA) of double standards in their treatment of his club.

Ferguson believes that sometimes there is an unfair focus on United when it comes to disciplinary issues.

"It will always be there and I think we know that. I don't really know whether it's about me or the club. That's a difficult one. Maybe there is some resentment about United at the top level because of our success," the Daily Mirror quoted Ferguson, as saying.

"I think that has got something to do with it. They have certainly always found a way to treat us differently. It has been happening for a while now and they always seem to find a way to 'do' us when, with others, it is seemingly forgotten," he added.

Ferguson was hit with a five-match touchline ban and a 30,000 pound fine after criticizing referee Martin Atkinson following United's defeat at Chelsea in March.

A month later, striker Wayne Rooney was given a two-match suspension for a foul-mouthed tirade into a television camera after scoring a hat-trick against West Ham United. (ANI)
