London, July 22(ANI): England batsman Jonathan Trott has warned that his team must not be complacent after landing the first blow in the ongoing Lord's Test against India.
Trott survived two dropped chances as his unbeaten 58 helped his side to 127-2 on a rain-affected opening day of the first Test.
"We can't rest on our laurels and expect to convert this position to 200-2 easily. The Indians are going to be really keen to make inroads," the Sun quoted Trott, as saying.
"It's our job to make sure we combat that and see where we are after the first hour. You don't want to look too far ahead. There is a lot of hard work to be done," he added.
Trott, who has so far added 65 for the third wicket with Kevin Pietersen, was reluctant to goad India after a lacklustre display that gave him lives on eight and 32.
"We all know that it's swings and roundabouts. Sometimes you go out and play and miss lots, the next time you nick the first ball you play a bad shot to," the 30-year-old said.
"I can't say much on their fielding, I just look to my batting," he added. (ANI)
