Manali, July 21 (ANI): At least one person died and eight were missing, and several others were injured following a cloudburst near Himachal Pradesh's Manali town on Thursday.
The cloudburst occurred at around 12.30 a.m. Wednesday in upper Manali, about 18 km from here.
B.M. Nanta, Deputy Commissioner, Kullu district said: "The accident took place around 12:30 a.m. in the night. As per our report till now, eight people have been reported missing and all these people were the workers of the 'Garg and Garg' company that was looking after the construction of the Rohtang BRO (Border Roads Organisation) tunnel work here."
"Other 130 people who stay here, they have been rescued. The dead body of one person has been recovered as of now and his identification is under progress, " he added.
Several temporary sheds of the workers were washed away in the accident.
Search operations are in progress to locate the missing workers. (ANI)
