Jashpur, July 21 (ANI): Chhattisgarh police arrested a Maoist ultra, identified as Arun Tirkey from Jashpur district.
Police recovered a revolver, six detonators, three 7.62 SLR round and a mobile phone from his possession.
Additional Superintendent of Police of Jashpur, J R Thakur, said that Tirkey used to operate from the rural areas of Jharkhand and extorted money from village heads and landlords.
"Members of Jharkhand Liberation Tigers had formed a separate group and were operating in the rural regions like Bhalwanda, Pauni and Meral and they used to extort money from the village heads and landlords," he said.
Our crime branch head and the crime branch members received information that a member of their group was seen near Bhalwanda, based on which the crime branch and the police raided the area and arrested Arun Tirkey" he added. (ANI)
