Assam flood situation still grim

Guwahati, July 19 (ANI): The overall flood situation still remains unchanged in Assam's Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Golaghat and Sonitpur Dhemaji Districts.

 

Incessant rains in the affected districts and in the catchment areas of the neighbouring hills of Arunachal Pradesh has flooded villages and agricultural fields.

 

The rains have disrupted road communication between Lakhimpur and Dhemaji, besides Arunachal Pradesh.

 

The Centre has already deployed five teams of the National Disaster Response to Lakhimpur and Dhemaji districts.

 

Apart from the flood, erosion of soils is also posing a threat to locals in Morigaon, Nagaon, Dhubri and Barpeta district.

 

Food and other relief items is being supplied to affected people by district administrations. (ANI)
