Guwahati, July 17(ANI): The Central government has deployed five teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) for rescue and relief efforts in flood affected areas of Assam.
Four districts of Assam-Dhemaji, Jorhat, Lakhimpur and Sonitpur-have been flooded as a result of water level touching/exceeding the danger level in river Brahmaputra.
The teams are carrying specialized equipment to respond in any eventuality emanating from flood emergencies, a Union Home Ministry statement said.
The teams are also equipped with flood rescue equipment in sufficient numbers like deep diving equipment (SCUBA sets), inflatable boats, lifebuoys and life jackets.
The ministry is constantly monitoring the situation in close coordination with the Assam Government. (ANI)
