Kupwara encounter: Woman hostage rescued

Srinagar, July 15 (ANI): Army officials on Friday rescued a woman held hostage by militants in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara District.

 

The woman is reported to be safe and has not suffered major injuries.

 

According to sources, police was tracking a group of militants for the last 15 days. Last night, five of them entered a house in Lolab in Kupwara.

 

There were five people in the house - three children, a man and a woman. While the children and the man came out early this morning, the woman escaped at around 9 a.m.

 

All militants are still said to be holed up inside the house. The Army has cordoned off the area, NDTV reported. (ANI)
