Jammu, July 9 (ANI): The pilgrimage to Amarnath cave shrine on Saturday resumed from Pahalgam route after remaining suspended for two days due to inclement weather.
The pilgrimage from the Pahalgam route had been suspended since Thursday as a precautionary measure after heavy rains lashed the area.
Meanwhile, another batch of 10,000 pilgrims left the base camp from Baltal for the cave shrine this morning.
Meanwhile, reviewing the security arrangements, Kuldeep Khoda, Director General of Police (DGP), Jammu and Kashmir, said all sorts of arrangements are in place to meet any eventuality.
"We have reviewed the security and had a word with everyone along with my police personnel and CRPF officers. All security arrangements are completely fine including the rescue operations during the bad weather or evacuation plans in emergency," he added
More than two lakh pilgrims have paid obeisance at the holy cave shrine since commencement of the pilgrimage on June 29. The pilgrimage would last until August 13.
The Amarnath cave shrine is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The main shrine is claimed to be over 5,000-years-old. (ANI)
