Jhargram (West Bengal), July 2 (ANI): Normal life was severely hit during a Maoist shutdown in West Bengal's Jhargram town on Saturday.
"There is complete shutdown in Jhargram. The vehicles are not plying to go to any other place," said Ajay Sen, a local.
The ultras called for the 24-hour strike in their strongholds such as Bankura, Purulia and West Midnapore Districts of West Bengal to protest the arrest of Manoj Mahato, a leader of pro-Maoist outfit People's Committee against Police Atrocities (PCPA), on Friday.
Mahato was charged for his alleged involvement in the kidnapping of a local politician. (ANI)
