Itanagar, June 27 (ANI): Decks are cleared for unopposed election of Pema Khandu, son of late Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu, from Mukto assembly constituency with filing of three sets of nominations by him and no other contestant for the bye-election scheduled for July 14.
Pema was inducted into Jarbom Gamlin ministry as Tourism and Water Resources Minister on May 20.
Pema filed the third set of nominations with Jambey Tsering as proposer before Jang returning officer under Tawang district on the last day today.
The seat fell vacant after Pema's sad demise of Dorjee Khandu in a helicopter accident on April 30 last.
The scrutiny will take place tomorrow while the last date of withdrawal is June 30.
Pema is all set to maintain his father's record, who had retained the seat five consecutive times, including thrice without contest in 1990, 2004 and 2009. (ANI)
