London, June 27 (ANI): Former tennis star Boris Becker has hailed Bernard Tomic's performance at the Wimbledon and tipped him to be a star in the making.
Tomic is the first 18-year-old male to reach the last 16 at the Wimbledon in 21 years. And Becker, who captured his first Wimbledon crown as a 17-year-old in 1985 is impressed by Tomic's talent.
'"Very impressed. First time I have seen him play live. I tell you, a star in the making. I really liked the way he played, his composure. I expect a lot more from him," Becker was quoted as saying by The Age.
Tomic beat world number five Robin Soderling in straight sets during the third round.
Soderling was, however, not very impressed by the teenager's performance.
"He played a pretty good first set. You know, I was more worried about myself. 'I don't know. I'm not the coach. You should ask someone else, " Soderling said when asked if he was impressed by Tomic's performance.
Tomic's next challenge is a fourth-round clash against Belgian world number .42 Xavier Malisse. Victory in the fourth round would see Tomic play either second seed Novak Djokovic or the 19th seed Michael Llodra.
The 18-year-old Tomic said he is confident and will the next challenge. "I would love to win another round. Next few days I am going to have to prepare mentally for it and not just be backing off in the fourth round. I think I can win," Tomic said. (ANI)
