Shillong, June 20 (ANI): Police have arrested three arms smugglers and seized a huge cache of arms from them.
Acting on a specific tip off, police officials nabbed the three men from Umroi, 15 kilometers from Shillong. The police also recovered a cache of arms, including eight AK-56 rifles from a car in which they were traveling.
"We received information from a reliable source that one Mizoram number car is coming, so we were sent there to intercept the vehicle when it came, said P S Marwien, Officer In-Charge, Umium Police Station.
The smugglers have been identified as Lalchawisanga Zahau, 45, CL Hlira, 47, and Lallawmzuala, 34. They were travelling with weapons from Piau village in Mizoram's Champhai district, bordering Myanmar.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is questioning the trio. (ANI)
