Kannauj, June 19 (ANI): The Mayawati Government, which is already under flak from several quarters over the Lakhimpur incident, has now suspended two policemen for not registering the First Information Report (FIR) in another shocking case of rape of a minor girl in Ghur-purwa village of Uttar Pradesh's Kannauj District.

The government has suspended one sub-inspector and a constable on charges of negligence for not filing the FIR on time, when the girl was first brought to the police station.

Despite registering a case of rape and attempt to murder against the two accused, the police have failed to make any arrests in the case so far.

The two accused Kuldip Loniya and Niranjan Yadav, who are now absconding dragged Preeti, 14, into the fields on Saturday morning and when she resisted, they assaulted and stabbed her eyes.

The girl was discovered in the fields by villagers and was later rushed to the district hospital.

The doctor, who operated the girl said: "The left eye is completely damaged. The inner parts of the eye are severely damaged. The cornea is badly damaged, may not come back to its normal condition."

In another incident on June 10, a minor girl was found hanging inside the Nighasan police station in Lakhimpur District, which drew sharp criticism from various political outfits.

The second autopsy conducted on the minor girl's body, which was found hanging from a tree within the compound of Nighasan police station confirmed that the victim was murdered.

The Uttar Pradesh Government has ordered a CB-CID probe into the case.

The victim's mother in her complaint alleged that the girl was raped and murdered. (ANI)
