Lucknow, June 15 (ANI): The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court on Wednesday directed the Uttar Pradesh Government to submit a status report on the CB-CID probe or any other investigation into the murder of a minor girl within the compound of Nighasan police station in Lakhimpur District.
The court has fixed June 17 as the next date of hearing into the case.
The verdict of the court came on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking direction for a CBI probe into the case.
The petitioner has also sought a direction for paying compensation of Rs. 25 lakh to the family of the 14-year-old girl and for dismissal of the police personnel, whose name has come up in light in this case.
Meanwhile, Mayawati has ordered the suspension of a police officer over serious lapses in handling of this case.
Mayawati announced the suspension of Lakhimpur-Kheri Superintendent of Police (SP) D.K. Rai.
The second autopsy conducted on the minor girl's body, which was found hanging from a tree within the compound of Nighasan police station in Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur District on Friday night, yesterday confirmed that the victim was murdered.
Missing since Friday evening, the girl was found hanging from a tree inside the premises of Nighasan Police Station. The victim's mother in her complaint had alleged that the girl was raped and murdered. (ANI)
