Veerappa Moily condoles demise of M.F. Husain

New Delhi, June 9 (ANI): Union Law and Justice Minister Dr. M. Veerappa Moily has condoled the demise of M. F. Husain, one of India's best-known artists, who breathed his last at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London early this morning.

 

In his condolence message he said: "I am shocked to know about the demise of our great world know artist M.F. Husain. He has been a great legendary who was a King among the Artists. His contribution to art is commendable and he will always be remembered by the country."

 

Meanwhile, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Prof. K.V. Thomas expressing his grief over Husain's death said: "The death of Hussain has created a void in the world of art and it is difficult to visualize the world without his versatile personality.

 

"On this occasion, I fondly cherish the pleasant occasion of his visit and stay in Kerala for nearly three months, when I was the Minister of Tourism in Government of Kerala. I fondly recall that he made a painting of "Kalyanikutti Logam" and also presented a few paintings to me and my family, which even today, I preserve as the most valuable piece of treasure," he added

 

Thomas further said: "His all inclusive vision and commitment to promote art, literature and human values will always be cherished by the people of our countrymen for a long time to come."

 

"I pray that his soul finds an eternal peace and that we continue to draw inspiration and guidance from his life," he added.

 

Minister of State for Railways, Mukul Roy in his condolence message, said that the contribution of M.F.Husain in the field of contemporary paintings would always be remembered. His death is an immense loss to the nation and to the artistic community, Roy added.

 

M F Husain, who earned both fame and wrath for his paintings, breathed his last at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London early this morning.

 

Husain was popularly known as MF and regarded as 'Picasso of India'. (ANI)
