London, June 8(ANI): The Lancashire County Cricket Club has boosted its squad by signing Pakistani seamer Junaid Khan, who was recommended by none other than former Pakistan captain and legendary pace bowler Wasim Akram.
Subject to registration, Junaid will join up with his new team-mates for their Friends Life t20 campaign.
The 21-year-old left-arm bowler has represented Pakistan in seven One Day Internationals (ODIs), and was in the recent Test squad for the series against the West Indies.
"Junaid is a hot prospect who was recommended to us by Wasim Akram. He is initially with us for our Friends Life t20 campaign, but there may be some scope for him to feature in our LV County Championship squad later in the summer," Cricket Director Mike Watkinson said.
"Like Farveez Maharoof, Junaid joins us on modest terms with an incentive to play county cricket in the hope of furthering his international ambitions," he added.
Head Coach Peter Moores was also all praise for the Pakistani seamer.
"Junaid is an extremely talented cricketer who will supplement our seam attack. He bowls with good pace and variation and we look forward to working with him," he said. (ANI)
