Paris, June 1(ANI): Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal has said that despite being the World No.1, he tries to learn from his defeats and use it to prepare better for other tournaments.
When asked how he handles a defeat and whether it was hard to continue playing with the same confidence, Nadal said: "In tennis it is more usual to lose than to win every week. Defeats are part of the game and of course I don't like to lose, but you have to learn from defeat and congratulate your opponent."
"If the other player was better, just congratulate him and keep working to improve as a player," he added.
Nadal further said that he was proud to receive the 2010 ITF World Singles Champion trophy on Tuesday.
"I was very proud of that and thankful. It was in front of the whole tennis family and that's very important since we are like a big family in our sport," Nadal wrote in his blog on The Telegraph.
Despite putting on an unconvincing performance, Nadal has done just enough to secure himself a French Open quarterfinal berth as he defeated Croatian Ivan Ljubicic 7-5, 6-3, 6-3 on Monday.
The 24-year-old will now face Sweden's Robin Soderling. (ANI)
