New Delhi, May 28 (ANI): Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Saturday opened a 20-day transit camp for pilgrims going to attend 799th annual Urs of Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti at Ajmer Sharif.
Pilgrims from all parts of the country reach Delhi to further travel to Ajmer.
The city government has been regularly organizing transit camp to facilitate their stay by providing all facilities in the camp.
The DTC, Delhi Police, Health Department, DJB, MCD, NDPL and other departments have rendered their cooperation in providing facilities in the camp. The government has made arrangement for free stay of pilgrims in the camp.
A number of ambulances have been deployed and CCTV cameras have also been installed, keeping in view security requirements. 195 mobile public conveniences have also been stationed.
The DTC is also offering its Delhi tour buses for the convenience of pilgrims. An eight bedded mini hospital; an Ayurvedic and Unani health centre have also been commissioned.
The Rajasthan Roadways has made arrangement of buses. All daily need items are also available in the camp.
Delhi Revenue Minister Dr. Ashok Kumar Walia, Delhi Power Minister Haroon Yusuf, Ex- Minister Mangat Ram Singhal, MLA Mateen Ahmed, Chairman Urs Committee Salauddin, Director of Delhi Minorities Finance Corporation Tariq Siddiqui and Principal Secretary (Revenue) Dharmendra were also present on this occasion.
Dikshit stated that her government has been providing all possible help in organizing camps for pilgrims of all religions. The Urs camp at Burari Maidan is being organized consecutively for the last 11 years. It has been observed that every year the arrangements are becoming better than the best.
Dikshit further expressed confidence that the stay of pilgrims in transit camp will be comfortable. She exhorted pilgrims to make prayer for unity and brotherhood during annual Urs at Ajmer, and appreciated the role of Urs committee in making excellent arrangement in the camp.
Revenue Minister Dr. Walia stated that the arrangements have been done as per guidance and instructions of the Chief Minister. He further stated that we all in Delhi have been working to strengthen the bonds of cooperation and mutual trust.
Power Minister Yusuf described it as one of the largest urs camps in the country. He stated that the city government has been adding more and more facilities in the camp year after year. (ANI)
