Chennai, May 27(ANI): The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday said that batsmen Gautam Gambhir and Yuvraj Singh will be unavailable for the tour of the West Indies due to injuries.
Suresh Raina was named captain of the Twenty20 and ODI team, while Harbhajan Singh will be the vice-captain.
Gambhir was earlier named as M.S. Dhoni's stand-in for the lone Twenty20 and five ODIs.
Manoj Tiwary and Shikhar Dhawan have been included in the team as replacements.
The decision was taken in a BCCI meeting in Chennai after which Secretary N. Srinivasan announced a 16-man squad for the three-match Test series.
"Gautam Gambhir will be unavailable for the full tour of the West Indies, on account of his shoulder injury. Yuvraj Singh will also be unavailable for the full tour. He is suffering from an upper respiratory infection, with a small patch of pneumonitis in the left lung," the BCCI said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Sachin Tendulkar, who had earlier opted out of the ODI series, has been rested for the entire series.
"He will therefore not play the Test series," the statement said.
Team India is already without M.S. Dhoni, Virender Sehwag, Zaheer Khan and Ashish Nehra for the ODI series.
