Kolkata, May 8 (ANI): Campaigning for the sixth and final phase of assembly polls in West Bengal has come to an end this evening.
An electorate of 26, 55,000 will decide the political fate of 97 candidates in the fray in this phase.he election will take place for 14 seats in Jungle Mahal covering remaining parts of Purulia, Bunkura and West Midnapore districts on Tuesday.
According to reports, this is the most crucial phase of polls, which will take place in Maoist-infested areas and unprecedented security arrangements have been put in place to ensure free and fair voting.
Voting will start from 7.00 a.m. and will continue till 3.00 p.m. instead of 5.00 p.m. for security reasons.
The fifth phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections was peaceful on Saturday, but for a few sporadic incidents in which supporters of rival groups were involved in scuffles. Polling, however, was not disrupted.
The average turnout in the 38 Assembly constituencies that are spread over parts of Bardhaman, Purulia, Bankura and Paschim Medinipur districts was 83.7 per cent (till 9 p.m.).
Of the six phased elections in West Bengal, five have been completed on April 18, 23, 27, May 3 and May 7.
The sixth phase will take place on May 10. (ANI)
