Month long exhibition showcasing Tibet's history to keep its culture alive

Dharamshala, May 8 (ANI): A month-long exhibition has been organised in Dharamsala town of Himachal Pradesh to showcase the glimpses of the history of Tibet.

 

The exhibition started on May 3, depicting the old Tibet as a distinct nation with its own unique culture, language, religion and history.

 

"We have 27 panels including the introduction and the acknowledgement and all the panels are, our each panel specifies period in Tibetan history and if you view the whole exhibition you will be able to know that what Tibet was, before China invaded Tibet. So, it's the pictorial as well as the written statement itself speak about Tibet," said Tenchoe, Director of Tibet Museum, Dharamsala.

 

Panels were put on display to give visitors vivid insights into the origin of Tibet, its religion and script, the three great emperors of Tibet, the institution of the Dalai Lama and the invasion of Tibet.

 

Tibetan visitors said these kinds of exhibitions will be helpful in proving that Tibet is a separate nation and China has forcefully invaded it and trying to destroy the its culture.

 

"It's a dream and history of Tibet. Right now in this century in Tibet, inside Tibet we are facing critical situation under the Chinese Communist. They are destroying our culture, destroying our religions and all.

 

"And in exile in India, we are promoting and we are preserving culture and also outside world we are trying to show reality what is Tibet and what Tibet about and before it was invaded by China, what's the reality of Tibet and this message we are expressing," said Tserab, a Tibetan visitor.

 

The exhibition will conclude on June 3.

 

Tibet has been under Chinese occupation ever since the Chinese army invaded it in 1950.

 

An estimated 80,000 Tibetans along with their spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, had arrived in India in 1959 after an unsuccessful uprising against the Chinese rule. (ANI)
