Nainital (Uttarakhand), May 7 (ANI): Boat operators in Nainital District have expressed disappointment over a state government decision to levy 20 percent entertainment tax on paddle boats.
"We are opposing it because we charge the tourists as per the guidelines laid by the authorities and the district officer. And, we have not increased the fares," said Hari Singh, the secretary of the Nainital Paddle Boat Association.
D S Dattal, Deputy Commissioner (Entertainment) of the Kumaon region, said taxes are being charged in the wake of the act being amended.
The Uttarakhand Government has levied tax on other entertainment activities such as cable television, ropeway, bungee jumping, paragliding and river rafting. (ANI)
