Srinagar, May 7 (ANI): Separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Hardline Hurriyat Conference leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani on Friday led funeral prayers here for Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.
Geelani asked all Imams to organise prayers for Osama. However, there was not much response.
Addressing a gathering at Batmaloo, Geelani condemned the United States for burying the slain Osama in sea, and said Islam scholars worldwide denounced this act.
He alleged that a conspiracy was on against Pakistan and that the powers had an eye on nuclear bombs in that country.
Special prayers were also offered in mosques in Srinagar, Pulwama, Bijbehara and Baramulla.
Osama, 54, who created and funded the al Qaeda terror network, was accused of being behind a number of atrocities, including the attacks on New York and Washington on 11 September 2001.
He was suspected of playing large roles in the 1998 bombings of two US Embassies in Africa and the attack on the USS Cole in the Yemeni port of Aden in October 2000. (ANI)
