Lucknow, May 6 (ANI): A special session court in Lucknow on Friday awarded a life sentence to BSP MLA Shekhar Tiwari in connection with the 2008 murder of PWD engineer Manoj Gupta in Auraiya.
The court, which also found ten others guilty in the case, sentenced Tiwari's wife, Vibha, to two-and-a half-years in prison.
The Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court had on April 15 reserved its judgement in the case.
The court had on April 11 reserved the judgement and fixed April 15 as the day of verdict after hearing 31 witnesses, including 12 of defence and 19 from the prosecution side.
BSP MLA Shekhar Tiwari and his henchmen allegedly murdered PWD engineer Gupta on December 24, 2008, after he refused to pay him money.
The others accused in the case are Vinay Tiwari, Rambabu alias Putti, Yogendra Dohre alias Bhatia, Manoj Awasthi, Devendra Rajput, Santosh Tiwari, Gajraj Singh, Pal Singh and former SHO Dibiyapur Hoshiyar Singh. (ANI)
