Patna, Apr 27 (ANI): An estimated sixty one percent voters exercised their franchise in the third phase of panchayat polls in Bihar on Wednesday.
The State Election Commissioner, J K Dutta, said that Kishanganj district recorded the highest voter turnout at 74 percent, while Sheikhpura district witnessed the lowest turnout at 51 per cent.
Polling was held peacefully so far with no untoward incident reported.
One presiding officer has been arrested in Saran District on charges of irregularities in the conduct of elections.
The polling for the fourth phase will be held on April 30, fifth phase on May 3 and the sixth phase on May 6. The polling for the seventh phase will be held on May 9, eight phase on May 12, ninth phase on May 15 and the tenth phase on May 18.
The polling for 262,000 panchayat posts will end on May 18. (ANI)
