Puttaparthi, Apr 25 (ANI): Scores of devotees across the world poured into Puttaparthi to get a last glimpse of late spiritual leader Sathya Sai Baba, whose body has been kept in Sai Kulwant Hall here.
Mourning devotees, both young and old, waited in serpentine queue to make their way to the Sai Kulwant Hall to get last audience of the Baba's mortal remains.
"I feel Baba (spiritual leader) is here still even though he is not physically but mentally. The amount of love is shown by the people I am very touched," said Maurice, a devotee.
Union Ministers Vilasrao Deshmukh and Praful Patel and cricket maestro Sachin Tendulkar along with wife Anjali were among those who paid their last respects to the Sathya Sai Baba on Monday.
Anantpur District Collector Janardhan Reddy said food and water have been made available to the devotees who have arrived from near and far.
Sathya Sai Baba, who was admitted to the super-speciality hospital at Prashantigram at Puttaparthi on March 28, passed away following cardio-respiratory failure on Sunday morning. He was 85.
His body has been wrapped in a saffron-coloured cloth and kept in a glass casket in the ashram's Sai Kulwant Hall.
The Baba will be buried in the Sai Kulwant Hall in Prashanti Nilayam on Wednesday morning in line with the practice adopted for spiritual leaders in India, contrary to the Hindu custom of cremating bodies. (ANI)
