New Delhi, Apr 23(ANI): Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Saturday presented awards to veteran Bollywood actress Sharmila Tagore and various other women philanthropists in New Delhi for their contribution to society.
Dikshit honoured Tagore with the award for Outstanding Woman Social Worker at the 27th Annual Session of FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry) Ladies Organization (FLO).
She also presented awards to women corporate honchos, who contributed in the social sector.
Among the recipients of the award were RBS Bank chairperson Meera Sanyal, JP Morgan Asset Management chief executive Kalpana Morparia, JSW Foundation chairperson Sangeeta Jindal and Jamnalal Bajaj Foundation director Mrinal Bajaj.
While interacting with mediapersons, Dikshit praised and thanked all the awardees for working for the upliftment of society.
"It's a very welcome step as all the women who can contribute their time and money, also can do hard work for changing the society, I would like to thank them and appreciate them for their efforts," Dikshit said.
The awards were decided by a special jury formed for this purpose. (ANI)
