Melbourne, April 23 (ANI): Aussie actor Joel Edgerton is being considered to star in the next 'Bourne' film following Matt Damon's departure.
According to New York Magazine, the film's writer/director Tony Gilroy is reportedly keen for Edgerton to star in the next instalment of the blockbuster film franchise, 'The Bourne Legacy', reports the Age.
The New York Times' entertainment website has also named the actor as a favourite to play the lead role.
The actor would not reprise the role of Jason Bourne, instead will play a character named Martin who has undergone assassin training similar to the Treadstone program endured by Bourne.
However, the films' studio, Universal Pictures, has its doubts.
The studio fears Edgerton may not have enough international star pulling-power to carry the film and is also considering him for the role of the Huntsman in the upcoming 'Snow White' and the 'Huntsman'.
'The Bourne Legacy' is due for release next August. (ANI)
