New Delhi, Mar 29 (ANI): The Ambassador, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Republic of Yemen, Khadija Radman Mohammed Ghanem, called on Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Virbhadra Singh here today.
Singh welcomed the visiting dignitaries and assured full co-operation for the development of MSME sector in both countries.
He said that MSME is one of the most important sector contributing to the Indian economy.
Ghanem expressed her gratitude and discussed issues relating to the MSME sector.
She mentioned that there are enormous opportunities in the field of Small and Medium Enterprises and expressed her desire to collaborate with Indian MSME sector in view of the tremendous work done by India in this sector.
She also briefly gave the background of Yemeni small business sector. She showed her keenness to know about the schemes and programmes of the Ministry so that the same could be replicated in Yemen. She was interested in having a meaningful dialogue through institutional mechanism.
Secretary Uday Kumar Varma explained in detail about the working of the Union Government as well as State Governments in pursuing MSME policies in the country.
He also offered to help Yemen in setting up Entrepreneurship Development Institutes (EDIs) in their own country, so that they would be able to provide training to their young people and informed about the Ministries capability of providing tailor-made training programmes in different sectors for the benefit of the people of Yemen, if they so desired.
