Poonch (Jammu and Kashmir), Mar. 20 (ANI): Poonch District police have seized over two kilograms of brown sugar worth over 10 million rupees from a group of four men.
The accused were caught during a regular security check ahead of the Hindu festival of colours Holi.
Deputy Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations), Poonch, SH Javaid Iqbal, said the department had been following the case for a very long time and termed the arrests as a big success.
"We had been working on it for a very long time, and today, on the occasion of Holi, the police were deployed at various check posts. They saw the movement of a group of men in a vehicle and stopped the car and seized this brown sugar," he said.
Police said the total weight of the brown sugar is 2.1 kilograms and the international value for it would be worth millions. (ANI)
