Moradabad, Mar 11(ANI): Jat protesters on Friday welcomed Bahujan Samaj Party's (BSP) support for reservation of the community in government jobs and educational institutions.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati who is also the head of BSP on Thursday expressed her support to the Jat's demands for reservation and appealed the central government to accept their demands.
Yashpal Malik, a Jat leader said: "We have been appealing to all the political parties to raise our demands in the Parliament. BSP is the first party to seriously ponder over our demands. We sincerely thank them"
Thousands of Jats have blocked railway tracks in several parts of Uttar Pradesh since March 6, demanding 27 percent quotas for their community.
Because of this, the railways had to cancel 14 trains and divert the routes of 20 others over the last few days.
Jats are bracketed with Other Backward Class (OBC). (ANI)
