Dhoni says Team India is up for the World Cup

Bangalore , Thu, 10 Feb 2011 ANI

Bangalore, Feb 10 (ANI): Indian cricket captain Mahender Singh Dhoni has said the Team is set for the world cup.

He said the current team has the potential to lift the trophy which has a mix of explosive batsmen and talented bowlers.

Downplaying the pressure of a billion expectations on the team, Dhoni said When you are playing for the Indian cricket team, you will not play a single game where there is no pressure on you. So, slowly you get used to it. The good part, I think is that the mix of the players is really very good.

e have got very experienced players in this side. Most of the players have played over five to seven years of cricket. At the same time, you have got very talented youngsters who can really change the course of the game."

Sachin Tendulkar , Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir will be the strengths of the batting line up.

Zaheer Khan will spearhead the pace department with support from Munaf Patel , Ashish Nehra and S Sreesanth. While Harbhajan Singh will lead the spin attack with the backing of Ravichandaran Ashwin and Piyush Chawla.

Dhoni also said the team can not ill afford to take participating teams lightly

"All the teams who are participating in the World Cup are quite dangerous. You cannot really take any of the teams lightly. I feel as a team it is always better to back your strength rather than thinking too much about the condition, and trying to get players that will suit the condition but do not really have the talent. So, I think most of the teams will go with their best bowling line,"

The tickets for the matches featuring India have been sold out. The opening ceremony will be staged in Dhaka.(ANI)
