Pak probe team recovers 'spying equipment' from murder-accused US official's custody

Karachi, Tue, 08 Feb 2011 ANI

Karachi, Feb 8(ANI): A Pakistani investigation team has found maps and other 'spying equipment' from the possession of double murder-accused US diplomat Raymond Davis.

According to sources, the team recovered a pistol, facial make-up, ATM cards of five different banks, wireless set and pictures of different areas of Multan, Sargodha and Lahore, the Dawn reports.

The team also found a GPS tracker, a telescope, passport, two mobile phones, valet and a dairy from the US official's possession.

Davis, who shot two persons to death at Mazang Chowk in Lahore on January 27, is currently under police detention in Lahore, despite the US Embassy in Pakistan repeatedly calling for his immediate release, saying that he has been "unlawfully detained by authorities in Lahore."

Pakistan-US relations have strained further owing to the Davis case. The killings have sparked huge controversy in Pakistan, where anti-Americanism runs high, fuelled by the government's unpopular alliance with Washington, the war in Afghanistan and US drone attacks in the country's northwest region.
