STORY: Devotees of 17th Karmapa Lama carried out candle light rallies in support of the spiritual leader in India's national capital New Delhi and northeastern state of Sikkim on Sunday (January 30).

Chogyal, a follower of the Lama blamed the media of creating unnecessary issue out of a small matter.

"There are thousands of other cases but they are not highlighting them. But the media is bringing up this very small matter and trying to make it a high profile issue. That is why we have gathered here," said Chogyal.

Jamyang, one of the several devotees who gathered in the national capital to show their solidarity for their religious head said media is putting baseless allegations on Karmapa of being a Chinese spy.

"It is basically the news that has spread because of the police raid. I think it is totally a baseless allegation because until and unless media knows all the details, it cannot claim that he has Chinese links. It is to be proved if it is the truth," Jamyang said.

Hundreds of followers of the Karmapa in India's northeastern state of Sikkim also came out with candle rally to show their support for the Lama.

On Sunday evening a huge crowd gathered in Gangtok, the provincial capital showing solidarity with the Buddhist spiritual leader.

Jorgay Namkha, a Karmapa's follower blamed the media for unnecessarily highlighting the issue.

"We are protesting against what has been put across the nation without any proper investigation. Whatever has been made as far as his holiness is concerned, we still have faith in him. He is our religious head and we have complete faith towards him and we know that he is not what the TV makes him look like," said Namkha.

Sleuths of Himachal Pradesh Police had recovered considerable amount of foreign currency on Thursday (January 27).

The 17th Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje is the third most important Tibetan spiritual leader.

According to the police, the raid was conducted at the Gyoto Tantric Monastery after they received a tip off.

Meanwhile, two persons including a close aide of Karmapa Lama were also detained for questioning.

There is no way even to doubt Holiness Karmapa to do or to be such idiotic things as many mistakenly think. But...i wonder how come socially unaware people such as Shakti Lama are given such position in Holiness' administration!

This is why His Holiness The ...D......alai Lama with deep concern advices everyone to be a 21 century Buddhist 'spiritually matured, socially aware'.

I do appreciate the wondrous things media sometime contribute, yet there are more cases that medias (except very few) should be blamed for creating unnecessary issue out of a small matter. The medias motive most of the time found so stupidly selfish. Making such minor matter a high profile issue, is for nothing but i can confidently say is for them selves to be more highlighted among other media groups.

Ooo selfish medias, unless you prove the karmapa being Chinese spy, you are misusing the Right of Expression, you are violating human rights, and you are not anymore pure voice of people but poisoned noise of mad dog!

May Holiness be given true justice without any prejudice !!!
