Vivo V5 Plus and V5 Lite, the Selfie Specialists Unveiled

New Delhi, Fri, 20 Jan 2017 NI Wire

With many companies putting their stake in the smartphone arena, one by one, to cash in on the New Year excitement, Vivo has unveiled two new models with cool cameras to lure the people who love to click. Vivo V5 Plus, an upgraded version of V5 that went for sale in November 2016 and Vivo Lite, a lower-end version of V5 were unwrapped. The former model is due for Indian launch on January 23. There is no confirmation on the prices of the models as of now.

Vivo V5 Plus had all its specifications in public when it got listed on a third-party retail site for pre-orders in Malaysia a few days ago prematurely. It was priced at MYR 1,799 (INR 27,560 approx.) by DirectD, the online shop. The 158.6 kg phone with a dimension of 152.58x74x7.26mm has a 5.5-inch FHD screen (1080x1920p) with 2.5D Curved Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The home button is embedded with fingerprint reader. A 2.0 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset powers the device, while 3160 mAh battery backs it decently enough. The device has 4 GB RAM and 64 GB inbuilt storage expandable up to 256 GB.

The creamiest part of the Vivo V5 Plus, however, is the dual-camera setup in the front (20 MP + 8 MP) with f/2.0 aperture that can create the “Bokeh” effect; the 8-MP camera lens being useful for capturing in-depth details, while the 20 MP selfie snapper makes use of ½.78 inch sensor of Sony IMX376 and 5P lens. The rear 16 MP LED camera also has f/2.0 aperture and is capable of 4k video recording. The phone has 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth 4.2, and GPS as connectivity options. Moreover, a Hi-Fi audio chip AK4376, which is custom-made, is provided in the phone to ensure up to 115dB of signal to noise ratio.

Coming to the Vivo V5 Lite, it is devoid of dual-camera, but still packs a 16 MP front shooter with f/2.0 aperture and Selfie Spotlight flash which produces the right effects for perfect photos. The 13 MP rear camera is also quite good with LED flash and f/2.2 aperture. The phone houses a 3000 mAh battery and is powered by an unspecified 64-bit Octa-core processor paired with 3 GB RAM/32 GB of native storage (expandable up to 128 GB). Sporting a HD 5.5-inch (720x1280p) IPS display weighs 155 kg and measures 153.8x75.5x7.6 mm. It also offers Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, OTG, GPS, FM Radio and 4G options.

Both the devices run on Funtouch OS 3.0 which is based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and are encased in all-metal back. While V5 Plus is assumed to be available be in only Gold hue, V5 Lite has Rose Gold and Crown Gold variants.
