We all look forward to the launch of new budget devices, as we have so many smartphone makers vying to cash on the budget device market. This is primarily because India has a vast and blooming market that prefers affordable devices with premium features.
The market has more buyers for reasonable devices as compared to the high-end smartphones. And now, this battle is going to spice up with India's very own brand, Micromax launching its ultra budget device - the Canvas 5 Lite. Micromax is known to be India's second largest flagship maker and it has got a strong foothold in the market - courtesy its affordable and decent devices.
Buzz has it that the all new Canvas 5 Lite will be made available for a price of Rs. 6,499; and it is going to be a Snapdeal exclusive. The Canvas 5 Lite sale is to commence from September 30.
And at this price, it will be competing directly with Moto E3 Power and Xiaomi Redmi 3S – both of which are the new entrants in the affordable devices' brigade. The Moto E3 Power is already available on Flipkart, while Redmi 3S will be available from September 28.
The Moto E3 Power costs Rs 7,999 while Redmi 3S is going to be made available for a little lesser price of Rs 6,999.
Canvas 5 Lite vs Moto E3 Power vs Xiaomi Redmi 3S
As we said, all the three smartphones are projecting a highly affordable price, and the competition is quite apparent. Users will have a tough choice deciding upon the best among the three.
If we look at the specifications of each, Micromax Canvas 5 Lite brings in some sturdy features when compared to the other two.
To begin with, Canvas 5 Lite has a premium finish which gives the device a strong appeal. The back of the device comes with brown leather finish, which as we can see is missing in Moto E3 Power and Redmi 3S.
However, Moto E3 Power comes with dust-and-water resistant body along with oleo-phobic coating on the screen whereas Redmi 3S features metal unibody, and the best premium look.
Furthermore, Canvas 5 Lite comes with a 5-inch display that has HD 720p resolution, and this is same in the Moto E3 Power. Lite has 8MP back camera with LED flash and for selfies it has 5MP front camera which is again common with Moto E3 Power. The Xiaomi Redmi 3S also has the same display size but it has 13MP main camera and 5MP front camera for selfies, which makes it a clear winner here.
Moving on to the hardware and processor; the all new Micromax Canvas 5 Lite is backed by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735P processor paired with 2GB RAM and has a 2,000mAh battery. The Moto E3 Power on the other hand has a bigger battery of 3,500mAH with the quick charge feature and it is clocked at 1GHz MediaTek MT6753P CPU, with 2GB RAM.
The Redmi 3S comes powered by a 1.4GHz Snapdragon 430 octa-core SoC, plus 2GB RAM and features a bigger 4,100mAh battery but it lacks quick charge feature.
Internal storage is same in the three devices, they come with 16GB. Canvas 5 Lite lacks support for microSD card which is present in Moto E3 Power and Redmi 3S. Dual SIM support and 4G LTE happen to be common feature with all the three devices.
Verdict
Overall, it's pretty evident that Xiaomi Redmi 3S boasts of some strong features like the bigger battery, superior camera, metal unibody, and a quicker processor. But we believe that Moto E3 Power despite costing Rs 1,000 extra has more winning features such as water-and-dust resistant body with large battery decked by quick charger. Lastly, Canvas 5 Lite's stands tall with its design.
So, it's indeed a tough choice. Which one would you prefer to go with?
