Motorola has recently released Moto Z Play which is bigger and bulkier than the counterpart, Moto Z Force. Both the Motorola devices are quick, stylish with a high-quality approach. But that's not all, despite sharing some similar features, they are miles apart and are pitted against each other.
Taking same spot as Moto devices, Moto Z Play does manage to bring in a difference with its features and built. And it is now to see how the device has done in the market over this brief period of time.
Look & Feel
Moto Z Play is the slimmest edition in the series, with a bigger battery and thickness. The display is glass protected and shielded against damage. The device does a decent job in balancing between price and performance.
In appearance, it seems same that of Moto Z Force with similar size and thickness, metal band across the border. It features Snapdragon 625, with 3 gigs of RAM and 32GB storage. There is a 5.5-inch display with full HD (1920x1080) resolution. The display is brilliant and vivid with high-quality viewing angles and outstanding visibility in intense sunlight. There is a headphone jack next to its USB-C port placed at the bottom. It also has the fingerprint sensor positioned in a square shop but it's not acting as the home button.
Performance
Moto Z Play's Snapdragon 625 processor isn't very boastful but its Android version is excellent. It looks same like Android 6.0.1, and has some added features. The device performs decently and even manages to score good on other aspects such as design, layout, UI, built and speed. The device works quickly and is very responsive. The processor may not be the high one but it certainly does a great job.
Battery
Moto Z Play sports 3510 mAh battery same as what we had seen in Moto Z Force. As it has lesser power-hungry SoC with 1080p display, this device has fewer demands as compared to other premium phones. This makes it clear that the device has an amazing battery life. The battery can easily last for 15 hours under mix usage. Under standard use, you can expect the device to last for nearly 3 days.
Camera
Moto Z Play's camera is quite good in terms of performance. It comes with a 16MP main camera with large 1.3 micron pixels, phase detect, f/2.0 aperture lens and laser autofocus, with dual-tone LED flash. The selfie camera is 5MP with wide-angle lens, and front-facing flash. Though the low light images are not that perfect, but you can give it a miss given the fact that Moto Z Play has kept the price affordable. There is a pro mode which allows for focus adjustment, shutter speed, ISO and white balance.
Verdict
The device is priced $450, and at this price, it's surely a great investment to make. Though the OnePlus 3 offers more storage and is even better in terms of processor at the same price, but with Moto Z Play you get an amazing battery life, which we believe compliments the other cons. Also, the design and look of Moto Z Play stands impressive. Despite the low price, it has a premium feel which makes you fall for it. Also, the performance is decent and the phone doesn't cause any lag when you operate the apps, browse, play games or watch videos.
If you are in search of a good looking device with decent features, we recommend investing in the Moto Z Play. And for those, who have been Motorola enthusiasts, this device will only add to loyalty and offer you some amazing upgrades which have been recently introduced by Motorola.
