Mumbai, September 1st, 2016: Six times National Award winning Director Jayaraj Nair is all set to wow audiences with a spectacular, larger than life experience with his soon to release magnum opus period drama "Veeram".
Produced by Chandrakala Arts, the film stars Kunal Kapoor as the leading man in the role of a warrior. Adding another feather to his cap, Jayaraj’s Veeram has been selected as the opening film at the prestigious BRICS film festival at New Delhi on September 2, 2016. The audience will comprise members of the film and culture society from all BRICS nations.
Talking about the film, Director Jayaraj Rajasekharan Nair says, “I am happy and proud in presenting the first screening of my latest movie Veeram, an adaptation of Shakespeare's Macbeth especially in this quadricentennial of the great writer. The BRICS honour makes Veeram proud of Shakespeare, Kalari, Kunal and the team members"
Set in the 13th century Kerala, the film resuscitates the real life character made famous through folklore literature and songs. Sharing broad similarities with the rise and fall of Macbeth, the film spans the journey of Chandu (Kunal), a Kalaripayattu warrior who meets a tragic end as an outcome of his betrayal.
The makers of the film believe in good cinema and also in giving due opportunities to artists who live outside India too. In this film as well besides character actors from across India i.e., from UP to Kerala they have afforded opportunities to Pravasi Malayalees in the Gulf region such as Arun from Doha Qatar, Goban Mavelikara, Vinod, Arun Kumar and Satish from Dubai, UAE.
Veeram will be releasing pan India and has been shot in three different languages - Hindi, English and Malayalam with plans to further dub it in Tamil and Telugu.
