Xiaomi released its Redmi 3S in India, earlier this month amidst much fanfare. Ever since the release, everyone has been talking about the smartphone. And if you too have been considering buying this new piece, let us make life easier for you.
Check out every detail about the Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime, and see if this one fits your bill and is an ideal buy.
For the uninitiated, Redmi 3S has two variants: generic model with 2GB RAM+16GB storage and a Prime model with 3GB RAM+32GB storage. We will here explore the Prime version.
Look and Feel
Redmi 3S Prime has taken the design hint from its phablet sibling Note 3; however, the former has changed the camera position for the main cam and has kept the fingerprint sensor on back.
The device has 3.5mm jack with IR blaster which has smart TV remote control feature and at the bottom, it has micro USB port. To the right, you’ll find volume rocker on top of power button, while on the left, it has hybrid SIM slot. Metal cover on the device is of supreme quality. Quite like the Redmi Note 3, this one also has two hard plastic strips placed each on top and bottom that allows antennas to get continuous signal. But thankfully, these strips have been masked quite amazingly.
Display
The device offers 5.0-inch HD (1280x720p) display with pixel density of 294 ppi (pixels per inch). The device also has reading mode and the viewing on it quite pleasing. As its compact in structure, people with smaller palms may find it really cool. The device however doesn’t have back-lit. Using the phone at dark will really be cumbersome owing to this.
Performance
Redmi 3 Prime is clocked at 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 quad-core processor powered by Adreno 505 graphics engine. It has 3GB RAM and 32GB inbuilt storage. The device launches apps quickly and there is no lag when shuffling between apps. Gaming also is a thrilling experience on the device, while many may complain of smaller RAM size but it doesn’t affect the device’s gaming capability.
Interface
It runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow-based MIUI 7.5.5 UI. Those who are fond of clean UI such as the ones seen in Motorola and Nexus series devices may not much like this new device as Redmi 3S Prime is more of custom themes, numerous short-cuts and other rights from phone-makers.
Camera
The smartphone has 13MP main camera which has 5-physical lens, PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus), HDR, f/2.0 aperture full HD video recording, 0.1 second phase focusing speed.
This primary camera works great during daylight but images in the dark will not have much clarity. As for the 5MP selfie camera, it is decked with f/2.2 aperture, full HD video recording, 36-intelligent self-portrait selfie styles and face-recognition feature.
Battery
The device has long battery life and has 4,100mAh battery. Watching videos, gaming, browsing, and general surfing all comes easy in the device. It can last for a full day when used extensively and under normal use; you can expect the device to last for two days.
Verdict
Xiaomi has been on a spree of changing the scenario built for budget phone with the every launch of its Redmi series device. Now, we can say that the company has gone a level higher with Redmi 3S Prime.
As for now, this one is surely a great device in terms of build quality as well as performance. If you are looking for a high end budget device under Rs.10, 000, we highly recommend Redmi 3S Prime.
