Budget smartphones have now got a new edition to the elite list with Xiaomi releasing its Mi Max in Indian market, exactly after a month after launching the Mi Max in the parent country, China.
Mi Max has three models – in India we saw the release of Mi Max base model which has 32GB internal storage, 3GB RAM and is backed by Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 processor. And the top model that features 128GB internal memory, 4GB RAM and Qualcomm Snapdragon 652. However, there is no news about the mid-tier model.
Its base model is available at a price of Rs. 14,999, which makes the device a tough competition for other mid range devices like the OnePlus X that costs Rs. 14,999 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 3's 32GB model which is available for Rs. 11,999.

Look & Feel
Xiaomi Mi Max comes with the largest screen of the two as it has 6.44-inch with a display resolution of 1,080x1,920 pixels (342 ppi pixel density). On the other hand, OnePlus X sports a 5-inch AMOLED capacitive touch screen with 1,080x1920 pixels (441 ppi pixel density), while Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 comes with 5.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touch screen with 1,080x1,920 pixels (403 ppi pixel density).
Processor and software
OnePlus X is backed by Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, and run OxygenOS 2.2.0 based Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS, at the same time as the Xiaomi Mi Max is power-driven by Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 processor (cheaper option), and runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow based MIUI 8. The Redmi Note 3 also has the similar processor as Mi Max but it runs Android 5.0.2 Lollipop based MIUI 7.0.

Mi Max, the Rs. 14,999 model and Redmi Note 3 come with 32GB internal memory which is expandable up to 256GB through microSD card and 3GB RAM, whereas OnePlus X has 16GB internal storage that is expandable up to 128GB through microSD card) and 3GB RAM.
Camera
Mi Max and Redmi Note 3 sports 16MP main camera which has features like f/2.0 aperture, phase detection autofocus and dual-LED (dual tone) flash, and 5MP front-camera with f/2.0 aperture, whereas OnePlus X has 13MP main camera with f/2.2 aperture, 1/3" sensor size and 1.14 µm pixel size features, and 8MP front-camera with f/2.4 aperture.
Battery
Mi Max sports a 4,850mAh battery, while Redmi Note 3 has 4,000mAh and OnePlus X comes with 2,525mAh.
Verdict
Of the three devices, Xiaomi Mi Max sports a bigger screen that the other two but OnePlus X and Redmi Note 3 have sharper display. OnePlus X leads in terms of processor, but Mi Max is the winner in terms of specifications as it has better camera and battery other than sharing similar storage with the Redmi Note 3.
