Sony is one brand in the smartphone manufacturing field that has always been known for rolling out luxurious and posh devices.
But now it seems that the company is game for joining the bandwagon of budget devices. After all, this is what is in demand. There were speculations of late that Sony was planning to launch a budget device in the market and give the rivals a run for their money.
However, it was all dismissed considering the fact that Sony is never known to manufacture lower priced smartphones. But now it has been stated that the company is indeed heading towards budget devices and has released its budget smartphone Xperia E5. The smartphone is listed on Sony’s official website and it’s really impressive to see that E5 boasts of some amazing features.

Sony Xperia E5: An Overview
Design and look have always been the forte for Sony and they haven’t compromised a bit with their budget model too. The all new Sony Xperia E5 comes with an impressive 5-inch HD display with 720x1,280 pixels (294 ppi pixel density).
It measures 144x69x8.2 mm in dimension and weighs 147g. In terms of processor and operating system, the Xperia E5 is clocked at Mediatek MTK6735 processor and runs the Android Marshmallow.
Talking of the storage capacity, the device sports a 16GB internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 200GB through microSD card. And as for RAM, it’s of 1.5GB capacity. Moving on to the major highlight of smartphones these days, the E5 is backed by a 13MP main camera that is feature rich with Auto-Focus, Flash, HDR photo and Clear image zoom 3x.
For selfies it comes with a 5MP front-snapper with Front flash. It has a non-removable Li-Ion 2,700mAh battery but it’s not clear as to whether the device will feature the fast charging aspect or not.
Furthermore, in connectivity terms, you’ll find Sony Xperia E5 can be seen supporting Dual-SIM, Cat.4 LTE, NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS, and microUSB v2.0.
Going as per the reports, Xperia E5 is going to be seen in two variants - white and black. Now, coming to the most important part, the price, E5 will be seen with a price tag of €199 which would be around $220/Rs. 14,900.
At this affordable price, E5 will surely be an enticing stuff for all smartphone lovers. And as we can see, the device not just has a budget friendly price but even sports the features that we normally see in elite devices. So, it won’t be wrong to say that this is indeed a budget phone and would be extremely profitable in terms of putting in your money.
On paper the features does sound captivating, but how well it fares is something we’ll have to see. Let’s wait for the first hand reviews to understand E5 in a better way!
