Coolpad recently launched its premium device, the Coolpad Max which was released in the month of May.
It is notable that Coolpad had already made a strong space in the budget smartphone section with notable smartphones like the Note 3 and Note 3 Lite.
Now it's being put on test for its Coolpad Max – which is a high-priced flagship available at a price of Rs. 24, 999. Let us here check out its performance details to know what fate the Coolpad Max will meet.
Performance
Coolpad Max is powered by 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 octa-core processor, and has 4GB RAM. This configuration allows the device to perform sans any lag. The device does heat up very quickly but with company provided transparent security case, you don't feel the heat. Though it stumbles at times but doesn't stop functioning.
The interface also has little issues due to heavy customization. Its Cool UI interface is based on Android 5.1 Lollipop. Its default launcher complements the gold body, however leaves you in confusion when you look for the apps as all are painted in gold. To solve this, you'll have to change the theme from available theme in the store.
Camera
Coolpad Max comes with 13-MP camera with ISOCELL sensor backed by 6P lens, f/2.0 aperture, PDAF and dual LED flash. For selfies, it has 5MP camera with f/2.2 aperture. Camera is indeed the most highlighting factor of the device. It captures minutest of details with realistic colors and sharpness. The various modes as provided allow shooting in different light settings. Its night mode feature allows you to capture images under low light areas and while the quality is not superb, it does manage to offer a good graphic.
Battery
Coolpad Max comes with a 2,800mAh battery that has the Quick Charge 3.0. Its plug end comes with blue LED light that helps usage in dark rooms. Through its Quick Charge feature the phone gets charged in just two hours. Under moderate use, the phone battery would last for nearly two days of battery life with moderate usage without data and just calls. But when using 4G, the battery goes down majorly.
Different from company claims, quick-charge feature offers 1.5-2 hours talk time in contrast to three hours of talk time with merely five minutes of charge.
Display
Coolpad Max has a compelling design and display. It has edge-to-edge glass that makes it look broader. When the brightness level is set at maximum, you'll face very less reflection when using it under direct sunlight.
Fingerprint sensor
Another attractive feature in Coolpad Max is its fingerprint sensor. It's simply precise and snappy which unlocks the screen in microseconds. Placed at the rear end, it's easy to reach. You can have nearly five fingerprints recorded to undo device or access private space.
Private Space
This one is handy feature that allows you to keep your personal things on the device private. It ensures calls and texts are encrypted for additional security. It even has dual SIM and dual standby 4G support. For entering the private space, you'll need a PIN, pass code or fingerprint verification.
Verdict
There is no doubt that Coolpad Max stands out to be one striking device in regards to its features and specifications. However, at this price, Max offers nothing new that other brands aren't offering in the same bracket.
For the camera and design, it's a complete winner but it doesn't score well in stuff such as the Snapdragon 617 processor, 2,800mAh battery, and average selfie camera.
We believe Coolpad Max would have secured more had the price been kept lower than what it boasts of now!
