Smartphone makers seem to have developed intense liking for mid-range devices - this is why in the recent few months, we’ve seen bigwigs in the industry coming up with budget smartphones decked with high-end features.
Following the suit – HTC unveiled its series of mid-range smartphone the Desire 830 in Taiwan. This device is said to be the descendant of HTC’s 2015 model Desire 820. However, the new model has improved a lot on internal hardware and is sure to give some tough competition to its predecessor.
The HTC Desire 830 has a 5.5-inch full HD display with 64-bit class 1.5GHz MediaTek Helio X10 supported by ARM Mali-T720 graphics engine. It has 3GB RAM, 32GB internal memory and non removable battery of a 2800mAh measuring 157.50 x 78.90 x 7.79 (height x width x thickness).
Coming to its camera part – the phone has 13MP primary camera on its back backed by LED Flash, OIS (Optical Image Stabilisation). It also features BSI sensor, 4µp (UltraPixel) front camera with f/2.0 aperture, wide-angle lens of 26.8mm and BoomSound stereo speakers supported by Dolby audio technology.
The smartphone is going to be available in Blue and Red colour choices. It would run Android 6.0 Marshmallow with company's Sense UI on top. Connectivity choices include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, FM, and 4G that calls for support of Band 40 used by LTE networks in India. As far as the sensors are considered, it include Proximity sensor, Accelerometer and Ambient light sensor.
During the launch event, HTC announced that they will ensure the release of Desire 830 in home market very soon. If sources are to believed, the phone would be put on sale in Taiwan from May 6 for a sum of NTD9,990 which is approximately $309/€269/Rs. 20,590).
While at the launch, the company even unveiled Desire 825 in Taiwan. It is to note that this device was launched in early 2016 at MWC, but without a price. However, now HTC has launched it at a price of TWD 7,990 (approximately Rs. 16,500).
It is interesting to note that HTC Desire 825 has a polycarbonate shell backed with a specially-designed micro-splash effect. This device also has BoomSound stereo speaker backed by Dolby Audio and comes with a 2700mAh battery. It features HTC Sensor Hub that would allow users to keep tabs on comfort and record activity and movement. This feature will even assist in offering real-time stats to users.
While HTC has made it a point to launch both the devices simultaneously – it’s Desire 830 which they feel would surpass the expectations. It’s already winning attention given BoomSound stereos – something music lovers are sure to bid for. Other than this, the device’s 4-UltraPixel front-facing camera supported by an f/2.0 aperture, has also become the talk of town. It would really be interesting to see as to how Desire 830 would fare and live up to everyone’s hopes.
For now, we’re waiting for the device to hit international markets so that we can get first hand review on how the device works.
