After launching the Canvas Spark series budget phones, domestic smartphone manufacturer Micromax is set with other of its two flagships. The company has now unveiled two premium budget devices under Bolt series - Supreme and Supreme 2. The handsets have been launched in India.
It is believed that Micromax is on a run to reinvent the brand and roll out more and more flagships under premium budget. For the uninitiated, there was a time when Micromax devices indeed basked in the glory. But in the recent years, its charm did fade away owing to the number of Chinese manufacturers bringing elite smartphones with affordable price tags.
Well, all set to give them all a run for their money, Micromax is enthusiastic about its Bolt series. So let us here take a look at the series and see how different they are from the rest.
Supreme and Supreme 2: An Overview
The Bolt Supreme 2 comes with a 3.9-inch screen. It runs the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS and is clocked at 1.2GHz quad-core processor. In terms of storage, the device has 512MB RAM with 4GB inbuilt memory. It comes with a 1400mAh battery. This variant of the Bolt series would be available only in grey color for now.
Next in line is the Bolt Supreme which has similar hardware as that of Supreme 2 with very slight differences here and there. The major different between the two variants is in regards to the display. Like stated, Supreme 2 has 3.9” screen but Supreme comes with a slight smaller 3.5-inch screen. It also runs the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS and is clocked at 1.2GHz quad-core processor. Coming to the battery, the Supreme has 1200mAh cell. And it’s going to be available in Champagne-white and black and grey combination.
As for price, the Supreme 2 is priced at Rs. Rs. 2,999 while Supreme comes at a price of Rs. 2,749. One can notice that there’s a very little difference between the in terms of price. With just battery and screen being the disparity, the price hardly makes any difference.
Camera & Other features
Talking of the camera, the Supreme 2 and Supreme sport a 2MP main camera with LED flash and for selfies both the Bolt devices are backed by a 0.3MP camera on the front. Other than the internal storage, they even have the option of memory expansion up to 32GB with the use of a microSD card. Moving on, now we’ve the connectivity feature wherein, both of the devices support, Bluetooth 4.0, dual-SIM slots, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n), FM radio, micro USB port. The Supreme 2 however even supports GPS and the free flip cover.
Competition
Under the price as mentioned above, we’ll see these Bolt series Micromax smartphones competing against the likes of other home brands like the Intex, Lava, Xolo and Micromax's recently released budget smartphone, the Canvas Spark. It is notable that Canvas Evok was launched last week and it comes with 64-bit class Qualcom processor under Rs. 8,500.
It would be interesting to see how the Bolt series would fare against Canvas Evok and the other competitors in the market.
