Undoubtedly, HTC 10 has proved me one of HTC's well-rounded flagships that come with lesser weak points. Ever since the launch, HTC devices have won hearts with their striking appeal but under the hood, it was the camera where they suffered a lot.
Enhancing the same, HTC came up with HTC 10 that claims to have the best camera. And while HTC 10 is all set to rule the roost, it has some tough competition coming from the ends of LG G5. This device from LG has a wacky design and a chic dual camera.
So let's see who wins the spicy fight.
Design
As we said in the beginning, HTC phones know how to rule the design department and HTC 10 makes no exception here. The new device has chamfered edges of at its aluminum rear panel which indeed makes it look stylish. The LG device on the other hand comes with a soapy aluminum built and rounded corners. It’s indeed slim and light and has a detachable bottom that makes it feel flimsier in hand.
HTC 10 has finger scanners placed at the capacitive home key under the display. LG G5 has it on the back, embedded in its lock/power key. Overall, the HTC design is more compelling as that of G5.
Display
HTC 10 has a 5.2” 1440 x 2560 pixels Quad HD display while the G5 has 5.3”. Both have equal screen quality.
Interface
HTC 10 has the latest Sense 8 interface wrapped around Android Marshmallow, whereas LG G5 has UX 5.0 interface. In HTC 10 you get flat and colorful Material Design styling and you get rid of two galleries as well. It gives option for customization via Themes app, and BlinkFeed homescreen, which puts together news, relative awareness and social media feeds. LG has introduced a refurbished user interface and has given G5 the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
Processor and Memory
Both LG G5 and HTC 10 have Snapdragon 820 processor and 4 GB of RAM. The speed quality on both is excellent. In G5 you get 32GB of storage and wit microSD card it can be expanded up to 200GB. HTC 10 also supports adoptable storage and internal memory is 32, or 64 GB.
Connectivity
The two of them support Wi-Fi, Bluetooh, GPS or NFC wireless radio standards. HTC's device is the initial to bear AirPlay, which is done via an Apple streaming technology. It even has LTE Cat. 9.
They come with USB Type-C reversible connector and LG G5 has the most up-to-date USB 3.1 standard connector which makes file transfer very quick.
Camera
HTC has 1/2.3”, 12-MP camera with large, 1.55μm pixels and wide, f/1.8 lens. It also has optical stabilization and laser AF which allow you to click good pictures at night or under lesser light. For selfies, it has 5-MP front camera which too has the optical stabilization.
The camera can be launched by swiping downwards twice or by dragging the app in the middle of lock screen. G5 has dual camera setup with two lens modules – one with 16 MP, and one with 8 MP sensor. For selfies it has 8-MP selfie camera but it lacks the optical stabilization. The primary, 1/2.6” 16-MP camera has 1.12μm pixel size, but wide, f/1.8 aperture and optical stabilization.
In terms of picture quality, HTC has very warm color presentation, while G5's photos match better with. The G offers better camera experience and works efficiently under low light as well.
Battery
HTC 10 has a 3000 mAh battery and can last for 7 hours and 10 minutes under normal use. It even has Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0-compliant, 2.5A charger. G5 has a smaller, 2800 mAh battery but it lasts pretty well as compared to HTC10 which has the bigger battery.
Conclusion
HTC 10 is the premium handset with nice design, quick software, much enhanced camera, and a conventional pressure on audio expertise. LG G5, on the other hand, performs better in nearly all scenarios.
But given the fact that G5 would date soon, HTC 10 is likely to rule and if the price can be brought down a little, it would be a great thing.
