Following the range of budget smartphones, LeEco first came with LeEco Le 1s in January 2015 at a price of Rs. 10,999. And adding another feather in his cap, LeEco has now launched LeEco Le 1s Eco at same price, akin build and specifications.
Both the smartphones surprisingly have same features to share with the only difference being that LeEco Le 1s Eco is touted to be the "Made for India" version. Let us have a look at the new model in detail and see if it fares well than its predecessor.
Display & Design
LeEco Le 1s Eco has the same design like the previous phone and shares similar metal body. The gold variant of the new handset has a premium look and even offers a good grip.
At the back of thee smartphone you’ll find mirror-finished fingerprint sensor, similar camera like that of LeEco Le 1s. It has a bump on top corner and at the right has LED flash, volume and power buttons. At the bottom of the device you’ll find the headphone jack and a USB Type-C charging port.
Though there happens to be two speaker grilles on each side of USB Type-C port, only one is the primary speaker and the other only reflects sound. Above the display it has selfie camera, speaker grille and set of sensors. It also accommodates a hidden LED notification pointer at top.
Coming to the display, LeEco Le 1s Eco has 5.5-inch Full HD In-cell IPS LCD display which performs quite well. The screen is responsive and provides readability under sunlight.
Performance & Camera
The performance doesn’t disappoint you as it is backed by 64-bit Octa-Core MediaTek Helio X10 SoC, and 3GB RAM. It can easily handle multiple apps without letting it affect the device’s speed.
LeEco Le 1s Eco runs Android 5.0.2 Lollipop backed by its own EUI 5.5 user interface. Though the UI is uncomplicated, you will have to enter the multi-window view in order to access some of the quick options like Bluetooth, screen rotation, internet data, flashlight, calculator and more. Also these options are missing from notification tray, and there’s no complete list of apps we well so you’ll have to create home screen folders to place your apps.
Talking of storage, it has 32GB of inbuilt storage of which you get 22GB of free space. It has no expandable storage as the smartphone doesn’t have a microSD card.
It has 13MP primary camera which performs well under sunlight but fails in low light. Though it has a HDR mode but it takes around 2 seconds to capture and develop the images. The selfie camera is quite good and helps you take decent selfies.
Battery
As for battery, the LeEco Le 1s Eco impresses with its 3000mAh battery. It can run for a whole day under ordinary use. The SuperCharge feature is also impressive.
Verdict
Other than the features and specification we just discussed above, LeEco Le 1s Eco is also good with connectivity and works fine with 4G support. With a price range of Rs. 10,999, it is all set to compete with Lenovo A7000 Plus and Samsung Galaxy On7, which too are the Made for India variants.
On the whole, it offers you local video streaming, good display, powerful processor, massive and impressive battery backed with fast charging – all of these features are sure to entice and impress you. As this smartphone has its own UI other than Android, you may take some time to get used to it if you so far have been strictly using Samsung, HTC or pure Android interface. In all, it will surely be worth an investment!
