In an attempt to give the rivals a run for their money, smartphone-maker Micromax has now launched its new budget phablet - the Canvas Evok. This premium budget device was released in India on May 16, 2016.
Micromax has always looked for innovation and with its Canvas Evok, the company claims to be trying to target the young working professionals in the country. This makes us believe that Canvas Evok will have features that would entice the professionals and be a handy help.
During the launch event, one could see that Canvas Evok comes packed with a 5.5-inch HD 2.5D glass screen protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 shield. So far reports state that it has Qualcomm's 64-bit class Snapdragon 415 octa-core processor supported by the lavish 3GB RAM and 16GB storage. It is also notable that the storage can be expanded through a micro SD card.
Micromax stated that its Canvas Evok will solely be available on Flipkart for a price of Rs. 8,499 from May 17, 2016. So far the device will only be available in black color. Rs. 8,499

Canvas Evok At A Glance
At a price of Rs. 8,499, the new Micromax Canvas Evok will get to compete against more popular choices like the Coolpad Note 3, Lenovo K5 Plus, LeEco Le 1s and Xiaomi Redmi Note 3. The Evok has a metal body and is backed with the latest fingerprint sensor which apparently gives it the added security.
As for the display, the 5.5-inch display offer full HD display backed by 1280 x 720 pixels resolution. The Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection gives your device the needed security. Talking of the process, it’s Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 415 is clocked at 1.4 GHz + 1 GHz and is backed by 64-bit processor which has Adreno 405 GPU.
Furthermore, Canvas Evok runs Android 5.1 (Lollipop) OS. In terms of storage it has 3GB RAM and 16GB internal memory which is expandable up to 64GB when used a microSD. At the connectivity front, Canvas Evok syncs in with Dual SIM, 4G LTE / 3G, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS.
Next we’ve the camera, the Canvas Evok has 13MP rear camera backed by dual LED Flash, 5P Largan lens, and 1.12um pixel size. For selfies, it comes with a 5MP front-facing camera that has wide-angle lens. As for battery, the device has 3000mAh battery but it’s not known whether it comes with the quick charging feature or not.
While at the launch, Micromax Informatics’s CMO, Shubhajit Sen talked as to how Canvas Evok tries to put together the growing demand of 4G connectivity, bigger screens, high resolution displays and powerful RAM. He says that Evok is indeed the finest combination of all popular features along with a fantabulous design and built.
