The highly awaited Moto G (4th gen) aka G4 from Motorola is all set to see the day light on May 17. It is notable that ever since the announcement, there has been a great interest amidst smartphone users about Moto G (4th gen).
And we’re back for a final round-up about its features, price and other specifications before we finally get to see it live. So, let’s get started:
Design & Display
The Lenovo-owned Motorola is said to be announcing two models of its new budget smartphone. One would be the Moto G (4th gen) while the other would be its superior version – the Moto G4 Plus. Except for the internal hardware, the two variants have everything else in common.
According to the pics that were shown during a promotional event, the Moto G4 Plus comes with a white colored Moto-branded handset which reflects Moto G (3rd Gen) with slight change on its front and back. It is to note that the G3 had two speaker grilles, one on top and one at the bottom.
In G4, the lower speaker is replaced by square-shaped physical home button which as per speculations will have the fingerprint sensor.
The generic G4 will not have any physical home button and we can believe that it’s not going to have the bio-metric sensor. At the back, both of the variants will have a flat polycarbonate based shell along with a petite silver strip showcasing the camera backed by dual-LED flash.
Talking about the display, both the devices will have 5.5-inch full HD (1920x1080p) display and would come with a metal-frame on the edges which would give the device a strong structure. Also, this would save it from getting damaged during accidental falls.
Processor, RAM and Storage
The Moto G4 series will have Qualcomm Snapdragon (MSM8952) 617 octa-core processor supported by an extravagant 3GB RAM. Moreover, both of the variants will come with 16GB inbuilt storage that can be further expanded through microSD card.
Camera
As stated, G4 generic and G4 plus would have difference in terms of fingerprint sensor and camera is another thing that would call for a difference between the two. G4 generic variant will have 13MP primary camera, while the second one is anticipated to come with better-quality 16MP primary camera. Both of them would have laser autofocus and 5MP front camera.
Battery
The upcoming device is projected to have a 3000mAh battery given the fact that Moto G4 have 0.5-inch bigger screen as compared to G3. The new variants will even have quick battery charging feature.
Operating System
Following the line of other Moto series devices, the upcoming handset will have latest Android software – it would come with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.
Value Added Features
Earlier, Moto G (3rd gen) had IP67 water-proof certification and from what we hear now, the new variant will also sport the same feature. The G4 series is also to have Near Field Communication (NFC), a quicker version of Bluetooth wireless data transfer technology.
Price
As for price, it is to note that the G3 series were launched at a price range of Rs.11, 999 and Rs. 12,999 for 8GB and 16GB models correspondingly. So, it is expected that G4 series will stick to a similar price range and considering the fact that opponents like Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, come in the price bracket of Rs.9,999 and Rs. 13,000, G4 would also stick to this.
Release Detail
Moto G (3rd gen) was released on Flipkart and Moto G4 series is will be available for sale on same day, but this time around, Amazon India would be the elite seller.
