Smartphones these days are coming up with innovative technologies that can help them stand out in the market & give their rivals a run for money.
Following the lines of innovation, Cat S60 is now coming up with something which we believe no smartphone has thought of so far. As per reports the Cat S60 will have a built-in thermal imaging camera.
So does it mean Cat S60 will get to enjoy an upper hand over its competitors? Well, to understand that, we’ll first have to go through this review and explore the smartphone in depth.
Cat S60: At A Glance
Cat S60 was launched ahead of MWC 2016 and will go out for sale in mid –June. The first flash sale would run in the UK and the global launch would happen afterwards. The launch of the device was announced through a blog – it states that Cat S60 will be available at a price of £599. The pre-orders for the device would be available on Clove. Let’s go through it detailed specifications and features.
The Look & Feel
Decked with a robust look, Cat S60 is exceptionally hardy and chunky. Though the precise dimension and weight of the device need to be revealed yet, but from the looks of it, one can say that the smartphone is heavier than seen in the past devices.
Moreover, the bulky look has been designed to facilitate the phone’s safety. Even if dropped from 1.8m onto a concrete surface, it won’t break which indeed makes it an ideal choice for building professionals as well as the clumsy consumers. It’s a fully drop proof device. Also, the numerous switches on it allow the phone to be submerged in 5m water for nearly an hour. It lets you take photos and shoot videos underwater as well.
Features
The device sports a 4.7in HD display, and in contrast to the earlier proposed 1080p, it however has 720p. Though it not as premium like other displays as available in the market, it does offer something unique. The device has bright (540 nits) that allows you to use the Cat S60 in sunny conditions; also you can use it with wet fingers or even after wearing gloves.
So far, it’s the FLIR thermal camera that has turned to be the most outstanding trait of Cat S60. It is placed above the 13MP camera on the back of the device. It is touted to be the next big thing in the world of smartphones.
The Cat S60 has octa-core Snapdragon 617 processor (4x1.5GHz & 4x1.2GHz) coupled with 3GB RAM and Adreno 405 GPU. For storage, it has 32GB of internal storage and you can expand it up to 128GB by inserting a MicroSD card slot. There is a 3,800mAh battery which as per company claims will allow the user to use it for a day.
Software
The device uses Android 6.0 Marshmallow which notably was announced by Google toward 2015 end and is seen on major flagship smartphones like Google Nexus 5X as well as the Samsung Galaxy S7. There’s also a devoted FLIR camera app which comes pre-installed.
So far we don’t really have the high points about Cat S60 that may persuade a user to buy this device. First, its’ bulky look might not appeal to many. Secondly, the thermal camera might be the company’s bait but again, it may not really strike with the end user. A thermal camera is most likely to appeal to those who are in a specific industry that calls for the need of such camera or someone who’s prone to phone damage.
The final word can only be out when we have the complete information in detail. Till then stay tuned to for the updates!
